About the Maestro:
Originally from Mendosa, Argentina, where he grew up dancing tango in his grandparents living room, Albano has been living in Buenos Aires since 2008. He has studied tango, classical and contemporary dance since the age of 18, and he has toured both Europe and North America teaching and performing. He studied with many of tango legends such as Carlos Gavito, Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Mariano “Chicho” Frúmboli and Juana Sepúlveda, and Pablo Verón.
Albano has developed his own style of tango characterized by circular and spiral movements and based on the technique of Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa. He is inspired by the idea that the muscles in our bodies form a series of crisscrossing spirals that relate our left and right sides. They run from our feet to our hips, diagonally across our torso and up to our arms and head. This physical counterbalance, or the relationship of one side with the other, forms the basis of his dance technique.
This technique is closely related to other disciplines such as biomechanics and aikido. The goal is for students to use the least amount of effort to achieve the maximum potential in movements.
To find out more about his technique join us for the class or book a Private Lesson on Thursday
